One of the largest women-owned architectural firms in New York City, Goshow Architects, LLP is making a move to 44 West 28th St. "Our new space will incorporate important sustainable design features to uphold the green-centric nature of our brand," says Nancy Aber Goshow, Managing partner. Building owners and management, 44 W. 28 Penn Plaza Properties LLC and Heather Management Services Corp. d/b/a Stellar Management are strongly supporting Goshow's efforts and have made further inquires into how to green the entire building. This move allows Goshow to unify their staff, which is currently spread out over two floors, into one collaborative community. In addition to offering a competitive rent, the building has an array of established tenants such as the New York Building Council, also an advocate for promoting sustainable design practices.The following methods have been incorporated into the planning and design of the new office space.
• All the paints, sealants, and adhesives are low VOC (volatile Organic Compound).
• The carpet, gypsum boards, steal studs, and other materials obtain recycled contents.
• The composite wood products have no added urea formaldehyde.
• Reusing some of their existing furniture and purchasing remanufactured systems furniture.
• More than 50% of construction waste, from demo, and construction of new space will be recycled.
• Implementing a green purchasing plan and green housekeeping practices.
• Installing low flow plumbing fixtures, as well as a lighting control system which reduces light-power density (watts per square foot of office space) a combination of occupancy sensors, daylight sensors, and a basic overall time scheduling of the office.
• Majority of materials will be purchased from regional manufacturers.
